Dear all,

Please make your posts and responses here for this week (09/29-10/05)!

Since we've done so much about "media" (especially in the listening activities),
why not share with us your personal thoughts on this issue?

You are highly welcome to share the insights you get from the readings, lectures, and even from your classmates' group reports.
As long as it has to do with our topic of the week,
it's perfectly okay to be brought up on the class blog!

Don't worry about your grammar and vocabulary.
The ideas you wanna share with us are a lot more important!

NOTE:
Please end your post and response with your NAMEs
(both English and Chinese names)!

  2. There are many media in times.Although media can let us get more information from everywhere, but today, some of media, especially news media, like to report someone's privacy.I hope that these media can think about how feeling if they are the man who is tracked by them.Would they feel good?I consider the answer is not!

I think it is correct.News is composed of 'new' and 's' literally,so it means "new" things that are only about interesting, exciting or unusual events. And it is possible to watch common things on TV. by Joe,儒弘

  7. Can we say that because of the right to know, every things we want to know should not be hidden, even if it is someone's privacy and not important to us at all? The answer is obvious. But if one day, there is not any gossip in our media, maybe we will not want to touch TV or newspaper or something like that any more.

  8. I don't think that we have the rights to know everything about celeberties because that's their own prvacy. They are public people and have to perform well to be our role-model but they still have to have their own space.Their privacy shall be protected because they have human rights, too.

  9. Sometimes,I don't believe in what the news media provides .Most of reports are magnified or arranged in advance not according to facts.
I think journalists have to write down what they had seen subjectedly instead of adding personal comments to one thing.

  25. Thanks for techonolgy,we can know and learn informations not just by reading. We can watch TV and surf Internet. Therefore, thereporters always want to report the things what people wnat to know. But do reporters have the privilege to know all detail, especially the privacy of celebrities? I don't think so, the reason why I think this follows: First, celebrities also are human, not different from nobady, they just have more reputation and power than our. Second, people not all want to know the privacy of somebody , like me. When I watch news,Ihate these news because I think they are boring and don't have any benefit for us.
Maybe some people said that knowing all details is media's vocation. But,when you become a somebody one day. Will you like to put your privacy in the spotlight?

  27. As the techonolgy developed, information explosed, media has became more common but important.
Just like the air we breathed,we get media everywhere at everytime whether you want it or not!
We may get others privacy or lose our privacy as the information spreading. That is the most equiable thing and unfair thing.
Overall, media can be one essential resource just like air,or a kind of weapon can used by everyone!

  36. As far as I know, news media in Taiwan is not worth our full trust, yet. You can see so many misleading (they just choose any way they want to describe a fact) information However, we just can’t ignore them. Without them, we are blind to the world. So we should legislate more laws to force the news media to tell us the “FACT” only, instead of many emotional descriptions and exaggeration.

I think we should force the media to behave themselves instead of asking the audience to rely on their own judgment. Not all audience is wise enough to tell the difference between their own opinions and the opinions from the media. They will just take whatever they got from television/ friends/ neighborhood and accept it in his way.

  38. News media
News media is everywhere and serves many different functions news media provid many important information we need ,but there are also many information that in purpose of enterment people who is instersting in that .Iincluding, newspaper andmagazines. Many journalists who want to let more people to read their report ,begin to dig in famous people’s privacy ,and then, they find that it was very useful. Therefore, what it was before made what it is today.
Second,do we know that every information which is reported on the media is ture? Many journalist report the news just base on the photographis ,what they saw is not always what they think .However, they just report what they though on the media .Therefore ,many people got harm .
As consumers of news we must know how to select the right information that on the news and think critically about the news.So that it should always be put under close scrutiny.I think that the mediahas no right to dig in the privacy of people.
We have to protect there human right.

I agree with Richie's inference. Although the technology is very advanced now, most reporters do not care about the privacy of other people at all.To judge celebrities's or the people who be reported's feelings by ourselves. To sum up,not only the reporter but also all of us should learn to respect the privacy of everyone.

  41. Response to 冠緯

Everyone knows that human beings have the basic human rights which can't be invaded by others.Yet,why does the "gossip news" exist in public? Why does some reporters like to peep? They take a risk to expose celebrities'secrets for sacrificing the public's needs, for appealing many spectators and for making more money. So it is the point of problems between right of privacy and freedom of the press that people desire for knowing more gossips about politicians ,singer or popular people in pubic.

although they are celeberities or the public. Everynoe has the basic right of privacy and we have to protect it not only for ourselives but also for others. In my opinion, we do not have to know everything about those famous peoplo.

  53. After seeing all your posts and comments, here's some points class0933 needs to pay attention to:
Your comment should be a "responde" to one of your classmate's post, which means you respond to the point they mentioned.
Try to think in this way: Do you agree what he or she said?
A.If so, show your points or give some of your ideas.
B.If not, please try to speak as plainly as you can to explain why you disagree.
Try to focus on only ONE point at a time and respond to it or I will view it as your another post.

P.S. I know you spend time on this. But what I am trying to say is that I know you can do better!! Try your best!!

I think public haven`t a right to all the details. After all, everyone has himself right of privacy. The reporter can`t report all the things.we show respect died.

    - It was easier to be a reporter in "the old days." Do you agree? Why/Why not?

No,I don`t agree.Because reporter should distinguish what can report ,and what can`t.
The reporter can`t report unture messiage.
